Flush with the excitement of the newly installed surround sound, Movienight Members Ben Davis, Zack Eisenberg and Eric Coolbaugh planned on assembling Saturday night in the Back Yard to christen the new sound system with an Unofficial Presentation of ‘Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.’ But it was not to be.

Messrs. Coolbaugh and Davis sampled the system with the first thirty minutes of previous Unofficial Selection ‘Saving Private Ryan,’ and then followed it up with some Phish concert footage that failed to please Mr. Davis.

Shortly thereafter, at around 9:15 PM, Mr. Coolbaugh went inside to put his daughter Morgan to sleep and was not seen again.

It was at or around this time that the outdoor temperature dipped to a brisk forty degrees with a wind chill around thirty five.

Zack Eisenberg arrived about an hour later and Mr. Davis, freezing cold and an hour into Neil Gaiman’s ‘Mirrormask,’ suggested that Coolbaugh was down for the count and perhaps the show should not go on.

The Unofficial Movienight was Officially cancelled at 10:45 PM.

Eric “Rip Van” Coolbaugh awoke shortly before Midnight.

When asked for a comment on Sunday morning, Mr. Coolbaugh released the following Official Statement:

“Well, so much for impromptu Movienight on Saturday. After pushing for a last minute showing, I managed to pass out while putting Momo* to bed. That simply won't happen again, and I apologize profusely to Nubs and Davis. I look forward to redemption.”

*Editor’s Note: Momo here refers to Mr. Coolbaugh’s daughter Morgan and should not be confused with his official position “Movienight’s Official Movienight Organizer,” or MOMO.
