The Guest SELECTOR Program went from gold mine to mine field at 1:27 PM PST Thursday, June 1st when Movienight Meteorologist Ben Wiener publicly posted the following e-mail:
“Subject: My Resignation
All-
Due to your shabby treatment of my wife, I respectfully submit my resignation as Official Member of Movie Night.
Ben Wiener”
This came as quite a shock to not only the Movienight Membership, but to Officially Designated Guest SELECTOR Monika Wiener. It seems that our usually level headed Weather Man responded negatively to one or more issues/people that conspired to prevent Monika’s pick from screening Wednesday night and he summarily resigned his membership to our rarified organization.
Numerous attempts to determine the precise nature of the “shabby treatment” in question have gone unanswered [Editor’s Note: Mr. Wiener was sequestered in the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, and was unaware of the numerous attempts made to contact him.], and Members Eisenberg and Davis are shocked and saddened by Mr. Wiener’s accusation.
Asked for comment, Movienight Archivist Ben “Tooda” Davis said:
“I was really getting worried about how nerdy Movienight seemed, and as the Web Designer I thought it was pretty clear I was the biggest nerd. Boy, did Wiener’s resignation take the heat off me. As nerdy as Movienight is, respectfully resigning from Movienight is like ten times nerdier.”
In response to Mr. Wiener’s announcement, the International Wednesday Movienight Grievances Committee convened for its first Intercontinental Tribunal. Movienight’s Official Movienight Organizer Eric Coolbaugh, in a private call from the Philippines stated for the record:
“I’m gone for three weeks and you all fuck it up? What the fuck? Wiener can’t resign. Once you’re in Movienight, you be in Movienight. Word.”
It has been decided Wiener’s resignation will stand unrecognized by the Membership. Mr. Wiener remains a member in good standing, and will still be held responsible for his Meteorological forecasts, his picks, and his Movienight Online Responsibilities.
