The first Pick of the summer fell to Tooda, and while we were still stuck inside
settling once again for an Indoor Presentation, Tooda celebrated the day with
the summer-camp classic ‘Meatballs.’
Coincidence would have it that the final Pick of the Summer would fall to
Tooda as well, and he book-ended the season with the back-to-school classic
‘My Bodyguard.’
The icing on the cake was that 70’s Icon Chris Makepeace stars in both of the
films.
Also returning to the Back Yard with ‘My Bodyguard,’ is the remarkable
Ruth Gordon. She has now made three appearances at Movienight (four if you count ‘Visions of Light’) having debuted in Netti’s ‘Rosemary’s Baby,’ and again in his ‘Harold & Maude.’ Matt Dillon, Martin Mull, John Houseman and Joan Cusack all debut with this Selection.
It may be of some interest that the “Bodyguard” in question, Ricky Linderman (the wonderful Adam Baldwin in his Movienight debut) shares the name of the bad guy Linderman from NBC’s ‘Heroes’ where Tooda himself played Linderman’s Guard.
“Please God, don’t let him sit behind me, I’ll have a heart attack, I swear to God I will.”
